Business with Purpose Awards Luncheon held in Karl Dean Ballroom

I was blessed with an invitation to a Business with Purpose Awards Luncheon at the Music City Center in Nashville, Tenn., sponsored by Lipscomb University. The luncheon honors businesses that operate with integrity. Two leaders, who happen to be brothers, Cal Turner Jr. and Steve Turner were honored. Their father was the founder of Dollar General. Cal and Steve are both men of faith and servants to their communities. Newly appointed Governor of Tennessee, Bill Lee also made an appearance at the luncheon and he said he was there to honor the Turners, but he started by acknowledging someone else in the room who had given his life of service and commitment to the state of Tennessee, Karl Dean.

The President of Lipscomb University, Dr. Randolph Lowry later closed the luncheon out with these remarks, peace is not the absence of differences, yet peace is having differences and responding with civility to one another, as was exemplified by Bill Lee and Karl Dean, being present together at the same luncheon only one day after the election for governor. They were there to recognize others who had made an impact on the state of Tennessee. What a great testimony of civility towards fellow mankind regardless of the differences we may have.
